Donations

Andrew Carnegie wrote in a letter dated 7 July 1901 to the first Chairman of the Trust -

‘Some students in after life may value the privilege of repaying advances received from the Trustees, although these are free gifts. I hope the Trustees will gladly welcome such repayments, if offered, as this will enable such students as prefer to do so to consider the payments made on their account as merely advances which they resolve to repay if ever in a position to do so, and that this will protect and foster the spirit of manly independence so dear to a Scot.'

With the increase in the number of Universities in Scotland the Trust finds it increasingly difficult to meet the requests of the students and members of staff of these universities and Trustees would welcome any repayments or donations.

If ever you feel you would like to repay the help you received while at university or contribute to the work of the Trust you can do so by including the Trust in your will or sending a donation. If you pay income tax you can make your donation more beneficial by using a Gift Aid form. Further details from –
